As Joe Burrow prepares for his seventh season with the Cincinnati Bengals in 2026, questions regarding his long-term commitment to the franchise have surfaced. Jordan Rodgers, brother of NFL quarterback Aaron Rodgers, recently raised concerns on "First Take," suggesting that the star signal-caller may seek an exit if the team fails to secure a postseason berth in the upcoming campaign.
"If they don't make the playoffs, Joe Burrow's gonna want out," Rodgers stated. He further noted that if the team misses the postseason, the organization would likely be forced to overhaul its roster and coaching staff to find ways to convince Burrow to remain with the club. The Bengals have notably struggled to reach the playoffs over the last three seasons, despite Burrow leading the team to a Super Bowl appearance in 2022, where they ultimately fell to the LA Rams.
Drafted first overall in 2020 following a national championship win at LSU, Burrow has compiled a 43-33-1 record across 77 regular-season games with Cincinnati. He has guided the team to two playoff appearances, maintaining a 5-2 postseason record. However, health has been a significant factor in recent struggles; Burrow missed nine games during the 2025 season due to a Grade 3 turf toe injury sustained in Week 2. By the time he returned to action, Cincinnati's chances of making the playoffs fell massively. If the Bengals are to make the postseason in the upcoming campaign, they will rely on Burrow remaining healthy.
Ahead of the regular season, here's the full schedule for Cincinnati's preseason: they will face the Detroit Lions on Thursday, Aug. 13, at 7:00 p.m. ET; the Chicago Bears on Saturday, Aug. 22, at 7:00 p.m. ET; and the Philadelphia Eagles on Friday, Aug. 28, at 8:00 p.m. ET, with the final game broadcast on CBS.
