A strike conducted by Israeli warplanes on a home located on the outskirts of Ansar village has resulted in the deaths of seven people, according to reports from Lebanon's national news agency (NNA). The attack, which occurred early Saturday, also left three other individuals wounded. Emergency rescue teams were deployed to the scene to remove debris and transport casualties to nearby medical facilities.
The NNA noted that this incident represents a significant escalation in attacks on the south. Furthermore, the agency reported a strike in the valley situated between Ansar and Zarariyeh, marking the first such occurrence at this geographical depth since a ceasefire was established two months ago. Additional military activity was recorded as Israeli warplanes targeted the Ali al-Taher ridge, a strategic hill overlooking the Nabatieh area, alongside reports of shelling in that vicinity. Israeli forces were also reported to have detonated residential buildings in the border town of Bint Jbeil.
Since March, when Hezbollah initiated rocket fire at Israel in support of its backer Iran, Lebanon has been increasingly drawn into the regional conflict. Lebanese authorities estimate that subsequent heavy Israeli airstrikes and a ground invasion have resulted in more than 4,300 deaths. Despite the broader hostilities, the region continues to experience intermittent strikes and widespread demolition of civilian infrastructure.
In related developments, Qassem questioned the status of the Lebanese army, asking how the ongoing pressure and bombardment of the military can be accepted without it being provided with protection. Meanwhile, Human Rights Watch has formally urged the United Nations to maintain an international force in Lebanon following the conclusion of its peacekeeper mandate this year, arguing that the presence of these forces serves as a vital deterrent against human rights abuses and attacks on civilians.
