The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) of Iran announced on Tuesday that its Aerospace Force conducted a missile strike against Amazon’s central data infrastructure located in Bahrain. According to a statement issued by the IRGC’s public relations office, the operation involved several cruise missiles that reportedly destroyed the facility.
Beyond the data hub, the IRGC claimed that the strikes also targeted United States air defense systems and radar installations situated in the Bahraini regions of Muharraq and Riffa. As of now, there has been no official response to these allegations from Amazon, Bahraini authorities, or the US government.
This incident occurs during the tenth consecutive day of direct military confrontations between Iran and the United States, despite ongoing diplomatic efforts and message exchanges. The strike was framed by the IRGC as a retaliatory measure against what it described as a US military attack on "under-construction, civilian facilities" in Darkhovin. Tehran has previously warned that it would target infrastructure in regional countries used by US forces if American strikes on Iranian assets persisted.
The situation remains volatile, with US President Donald Trump having vowed to hold Iran accountable for the recent deaths of three US soldiers in Iraq and Jordan. Meanwhile, Iran’s Permanent Mission to the International Organisations in Vienna has formally requested that the United Nations Security Council and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) condemn the US attack on the Darkhovin nuclear power plant. The IAEA confirmed it is currently reviewing reports regarding the incident, though it has not yet provided an independent assessment.
