Inter Milan has reportedly reached an agreement with Tottenham Hotspur for the transfer of England international Djed Spence, with the deal for the defender valued at €31.5 million. Spence is expected to sign a contract with the Nerazzurri that will run until June 2031.
While multiple sources in Italy indicate the fee is €31.5 million, prominent football journalists Fabrizio Romano, Sky Sport Italia, and Sportitalia are confident the final agreement includes €31.5 million plus additional add-ons. Tottenham had initially held out for €35 million. Sport Mediaset, however, suggests the figure is closer to €30 million plus €2 million in bonuses.
The two clubs are currently finalizing the details regarding the structure of these bonuses before Spence can travel for his medical examination. Personal terms had already been agreed between Inter and the player.
Spence, who recently celebrated his 26th birthday, will make a return to Serie A. He previously spent six months on loan at Genoa from Tottenham in 2024, where he made 16 appearances. He was also a standout performer for England at the 2026 World Cup, praised for his versatility in playing effectively on both the right and left flanks. Notably, on July 15, 2026, wearing the number 25 jersey, Spence made a crucial stop against Giuliano Simeone, who wore number 17 for Argentina, during the FIFA World Cup 2026 Semi Final match at Atlanta Stadium.
Inter sees Spence as the successor to Denzel Dumfries, who completed his transfer to Real Madrid earlier this summer. Additionally, he is considered a potential option to cover for Federico Dimarco on the left side when needed. At San Siro, Spence will reunite with fellow England defender John Stones, who joined Inter as a free agent from Manchester City.
