India have opted to bat first in the third T20I against Zimbabwe in Harare, aiming to secure a clean sweep of the three-match series. The team, which recently reclaimed the No. 1 T20I ranking following two dominant victories, made two adjustments to their playing XI. Fast bowler Ashok Sharma has been brought in to replace the injured Prince Yadav, while allrounder Suryansh Shedge comes into the side for Shivam Dube.
Captain Shreyas Iyer, who won the toss, explained the decision to bat first by noting the conditions of the pitch. He mentioned that they are playing on the same wicket used for the second T20I and anticipate the surface will continue to slow down as the game progresses. Iyer stated that the team intends to replicate the successful approach they utilized in the previous match.
Zimbabwe captain Sikandar Raza also expressed a desire to bat first but noted that he did not expect the pitch characteristics to shift significantly during the second innings. The hosts were forced into a lineup change after fast bowler Richard Ngarava experienced a niggle during the morning session; he was replaced by left-arm spinner Wellington Masakadza.
India currently hold an unassailable 2-0 lead in the series. They began with a seven-wicket win in the opening match, highlighted by Vaibhav Sooryavanshi’s 18-ball half-century. In the second game, a 90-run victory was secured behind Ishan Kishan’s 81 off 44 balls and an unbeaten 60 off 29 balls from Tilak Varma. While India reclaimed the top spot in the T20I rankings through these performances, a loss in this final match would see them slip back to second place.

"Considering we are playing on the same wicket [as the second T20I], we anticipate it to get slower and slower," Shreyas Iyer, who was back to winning the toss, said of his decision to bat first. "We want to replicate the same things we did yesterday."
India were dethroned from atop the T20I rankings chart after going down 4-0 against England, but two convincing wins in the first two games against Zimbabwe have helped them reclaim the top spot. A loss in the third game, though, will see them slip down to second spot.
