Borussia Dortmund has bolstered its squad with the signing of 18-year-old Greek talent Karetsas from Belgian club Genk. The move comes as Dortmund looks to inject new creativity into their lineup following the departure of long-serving midfielder Julian Brandt, who recently left the club on a free transfer.
Karetsas joins the German side with an impressive record, having already earned 10 appearances for Greece, during which he scored three goals. His performance in the Belgian top flight last season was particularly notable, as he provided 11 assists.
Reflecting on his move to the Bundesliga, Karetsas expressed his enthusiasm in an official statement, noting that Borussia Dortmund is a special club and that he is incredibly proud to wear the black and yellow jersey. Sporting director Ole Book praised the young player's arrival, stating that Karetsas will enrich the team with his intelligence and creativity. Book highlighted that the teenager is technically skilled and possesses a unique ability to find quick solutions in tight spaces, particularly within the final third of the pitch.
As Dortmund continues its summer recruitment strategy following a season where they finished second behind champions Bayern Munich, the club has also been linked with Cologne's teenage forward Said El Mala.
