Buffalo Bills offensive tackle Dion Dawkins is entering his 10th season with the franchise following a major physical transformation. The five-time Pro Bowler has successfully shed 45 pounds during the offseason, a change he attributes to the influence of two-time Defensive Player of the Year Myles Garrett.
Reflecting on his training, Dawkins explained that observing Garrett in the offseason provided a new perspective on professional excellence. According to Dawkins, Garrett consistently acts, trains, and works like the best in the league. Inspired by this dedication, Dawkins decided to adopt the same approach to his own preparation on the football field.
The veteran lineman stated that he aims to improve his speed and endurance, allowing him to run down the field and execute finish blocks without the exhaustion that previously hindered his performance. He emphasized his desire to sustain high-level play throughout consecutive snaps, noting his goal is to go play after play after play without that over exhaustion of 'you can't breathe.'
Beyond his own progress, Dawkins has also served as a mentor to other players. New England Patriots offensive tackle Will Campbell, who is entering his second year, shared that he formed a connection with Dawkins this offseason. Campbell noted that despite not knowing the Bills star previously, he now feels he can rely on him for guidance, having also met other players like Wirfs and Lane during his training.
As he prepares for the 2026 season, Dawkins intends to leverage his improved fitness to support the Buffalo Bills and teammate Josh Allen in their ongoing pursuit of a Super Bowl championship. Meanwhile, Myles Garrett, widely regarded as one of the premier defensive ends in NFL history, remains a central figure in league discussions following his high-profile move from the Cleveland Browns to the Los Angeles Rams in June.
Okay, I want to do everything the exact same way right on the football field.'"I'm gonna be quicker.
I'll be able to do my highlight plays without being out of breath.
