Reports also suggest that Madrid is pursuing 2026 FIFA World Cup Golden Ball winner Rodri and RB Leipzig defender Yan Diomande.
Speaking to the Spanish outlet COPE, Martin acknowledged the return of Mourinho as a nostalgic nod to the intense El Clasicos of his youth and described the potential acquisition of Rodri as a significant move. However, he remained dismissive of the broader transfer activity, stating, "I’m focused on us, what’s in our hands. Let them sign whoever they want, we’ll go and compete." Barcelona has taken a more measured approach to the transfer market, adding forward depth by signing Anthony Gordon from Newcastle United and Karim Adeyemi from Borussia Dortmund.
Echoing this sentiment, Barcelona left-back Alejandro Balde offered a defiant perspective in an interview with Sport. Dismissing the notion that Real Madrid appears intimidating, Balde stressed that football is decided on the field rather than by individual names. "We are not afraid of them," Balde remarked. "It's an eleven-on-eleven sport. When we are on the field, names have nothing to do with each other, they do not matter. La Liga is very long and we only played two games against them. The league depends on us."
These comments arrive against a backdrop of recent history where high-profile recruitment has not guaranteed silverware for Real Madrid.
