Fast bowler Auqib Nabi has secured his maiden call-up to the Indian Test squad, drafted in to replace Jasprit Bumrah for the upcoming two-Test series against Sri Lanka. The change in the roster comes after Bumrah failed to make a full recovery from a left knee injury originally sustained during India's ODI series against England.
Nabi, 29, earned his spot in the national side following two highly productive seasons in the Ranji Trophy. He claimed 104 wickets during this period, including a standout performance of 60 wickets during the 2025-26 campaign, which proved instrumental in Jammu and Kashmir securing their first-ever Ranji Trophy title. His consistent form also saw him selected for the India A squad during their recent tour of Sri Lanka. In that series, the right-arm seamer took six wickets across two four-day matches, highlighted by figures of 4 for 58 in the first innings of the opening fixture.
The current India Test squad will be led by captain Shubman Gill, with KL Rahul serving as vice-captain for the series. Sai Sudharsan remains included in the squad, though his participation is contingent upon receiving medical fitness clearance.
