The club confirmed the news, expressing profound sadness regarding the loss. Due to his bereavement, Maurizio Sarri was absent from the latest training session, which was instead overseen by his assistant, Marco Ianni.
Amerigo Sarri was himself a notable figure in the Italian sporting community. During the post-war era, he enjoyed a career as a competitive cycling champion. Although he retired from the sport at the age of 25, he remained a significant influence in the development of cycling in Italy. Throughout his active years, he was part of an elite training group that included legendary figures such as Gino Bartali.
