Arsenal Near Total Agreement With Newcastle for Bruno Guimaraes

Arsenal and Newcastle United are nearing a total agreement regarding the transfer of midfielder Bruno Guimaraes. While Arsenal have maintained a measured approach to the summer transfer window under the guidance of Mikel Arteta and Andrea Berta, prioritizing quality over quantity, Guimaraes has emerged as the club's primary target. The Gunners have been seeking a midfielder to provide both competition and cover for Declan Rice and Martin Zubimendi, the latter of whom showed signs of fatigue late in the previous campaign.

Although Newcastle initially denied that club-to-club discussions were taking place, the Magpies acknowledged yesterday that negotiations between the two sides have officially begun. Journalist Ben Jacobs has reported that a broad agreement is now in place between all parties. Fabrizio Romano, speaking to time2play, confirmed that Guimaraes is the singular focus for Arsenal’s midfield recruitment, noting that the clubs are down to the final details before scheduling medical examinations and finalizing paperwork. Romano described the Brazilian as a long-term target for Arteta, who has been keen to secure the player's services for some time.

Beyond the move for Guimaraes, Arsenal are expected to be among the busiest clubs in the Premier League this window. Having already secured Christos Tzolis to provide cover on the wing following the departure of Leandro Trossard, the club’s plans remain ambitious. Arsenal are reportedly looking to add another winger to the squad and may also pursue a new centre-back to address concerns regarding William Saliba’s lingering back issues.
