Following a trial that began last year, a Georgia judge issued a ruling that establishes Edwards' monthly child support obligation at $3,222, amounting to a total of $38,664 annually.
The court proceedings highlighted that Howard failed to appear at the trial and did not provide evidence to support previous claims regarding her lack of income. According to court documentation, Edwards has been fulfilling child support obligations since January 2025. His payments began with an initial sum of $20,000, followed by subsequent monthly payments of $5,000 leading up to the trial date. To date, the four-time All-Star has paid a total of $110,000 in child support.
The legal battle involved a jurisdictional dispute, as Edwards filed his case in Georgia while Howard filed hers in California. The NBA star argued that his former partner had no legitimate connection to California and suggested the filing there was an attempt to secure a higher support award. Ultimately, the court sided with Edwards, confirming that the child support case would be handled in Georgia. This financial development comes as Edwards continues his career under a five-year, $244.6 million contract extension signed with the Timberwolves in 2023, with his earnings set to reach $48.9 million for the 2026-27 season.
In other personal legal history, Ayesha Howard previously finalized a separate child support lawsuit against rapper Lil Baby in 2022. Beyond these legal matters, Edwards is currently preparing for the upcoming NBA season, which will feature his new teammate, star guard LaMelo Ball.
