Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor has been awarded 302,000 pounds, equivalent to $400,000, in compensation following his decision to surrender the lease on his longtime home, the Crown Estate confirmed on Friday.
The 30-room Royal Lodge mansion, situated near Windsor Castle, had served as his residence for years. However, earlier this year, King Charles III stripped his younger brother of his royal titles and initiated his eviction from the property. The move followed intense public outcry and the emergence of documents from the U.S. Department of Justice linked to the investigation into the late sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, with whom the former prince had maintained a documented friendship.
The Crown Estate, which manages lands nominally held by the monarch for the benefit of taxpayers, noted that the departure occurred in February. This was earlier than originally anticipated, and the former prince has since been relocated to a residence on the king’s private estate at Sandringham.
