Turkish side Fenerbahce has confirmed the signing of 33-year-old Belgian striker Romelu Lukaku. While the club did not disclose the financial terms of the transfer or the duration of the player's contract, the move is expected to significantly strengthen the team's offensive lineup, which recently added former Manchester United winger Mason Greenwood.
In a video message shared on social media, Lukaku expressed his excitement regarding the move, telling the club's supporters, "It's an honour and a privilege to be joining your club and to join this club. I'm fit, 100 percent, ready to go."
The transfer follows a tumultuous period for the forward at Napoli. Although he joined the Italian club in the summer of 2024 and experienced Scudetto glory during his debut season, his time there was ultimately hampered by injuries and a breakdown in his relationship with club management. Consequently, he was limited to just 64 minutes of playing time last season.
Despite these club-level struggles, Lukaku remains a prolific international performer. He is Belgium's all-time leading scorer with 93 goals and featured in the national squad for the 2026 World Cup, where he netted three times. Belgium reached the quarter-finals of that tournament before being eliminated by eventual winners Spain.
Throughout his career, Lukaku has played for high-profile clubs including Chelsea, Manchester United, and Inter Milan. His arrival at Fenerbahce comes as the Istanbul-based club looks to end a title drought; they have not won the Turkish league since 2014 and have finished as runners-up to rivals Galatasaray for the past four seasons.
