Paris Saint-Germain head coach Luis Enrique has maintained a firm stance on transfer speculation while expressing uncertainty regarding his team's readiness for their upcoming competitive challenge. Amid ongoing reports linking 23-year-old winger Bradley Barcola with potential moves to Arsenal and Liverpool, the PSG manager declined to address the player's future at the club.
Barcola has been identified as a target for Andoni Iraola’s side during the summer transfer window. Following his participation in the World Cup, where he netted three goals to help Les Bleus secure a fourth-place finish, the French international has recently rejoined the Parisian squad for training. When pressed for comment on the transfer rumors, Enrique stated, "I don’t know and I don’t want to speak about any player individually." He further explained that discussing players in such a manner is "always dangerous when you are asking something positive or negative about a player," emphasizing his commitment to remaining focused on the team as a whole.
The club is now preparing for a high-stakes encounter against Aston Villa in the UEFA Super Cup this Wednesday. However, Enrique acknowledged that the preparation period has been significantly hampered by a disjointed schedule. A number of players returned to the club at different times following the World Cup, with some arriving only this Monday and others joining the group last week. Consequently, the manager admitted that he cannot accurately predict the physical state of his squad.
"In the pre-season matches, we had a lot of absences. It’s hard to predict who will play," Enrique noted. Despite the logistical challenges, he acknowledged the importance of the fixture, stating, "For every team, it’s important to win a European trophy, and we’ll see what kind of match both teams can deliver this Wednesday."
