Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow is currently entering his seventh season with the team following a 2025 campaign that saw him earn his third Pro Bowl selection despite battling injuries. While Burrow is widely regarded as one of the league's top quarterbacks, FS1 analyst Chris Broussard offered a critical assessment of his career trajectory on the show "First Things First."
Broussard acknowledged that Burrow possesses "Hall of Fame talent" and is a "Hall of Fame caliber player," but he argued that the quarterback’s career statistics and milestones do not currently support a Hall of Fame path. The analyst specifically pointed to Burrow's frequent injury setbacks and limited postseason success as primary hurdles. During his six-year career, Burrow has played more than 15 games in a season only three times, and he was limited to just eight appearances in 2025 due to a turf toe injury.
Addressing the hype surrounding the Bengals star, Broussard pushed back against the notion that past Super Bowl appearances provide a pass for subsequent years. "Brock Purdy got to the Super Bowl too. A lot of quarterbacks have gotten to the Super Bowl. That doesn't give you a pass for the next five six years of your career," Broussard stated. He further noted that Burrow has never been named an All-Pro, has never placed in the top three of the MVP race, has only won more than 10 games in a single season once, and has reached the playoffs twice in six years.
Despite these criticisms, Burrow is expected to return to form for the 2026 season. Even with his limited time on the field last year, he managed to record 1,809 passing yards, 17 touchdowns, and five interceptions. During a recent training camp practice at Paycor Stadium, the quarterback demonstrated his ongoing potential by connecting with Ja’Marr Chase on a deep pass that drew praise from fans in attendance.
