Cricket South Africa (CSA) has officially revised the schedule for the Indian women's cricket team's upcoming tour, incorporating three T20 International matches into the itinerary. This addition complements the previously scheduled three ODIs and a one-off Test, providing the Proteas Women with essential competitive experience ahead of the inaugural ICC Women's Champions Trophy, which is set to take place in Sri Lanka next February.
The tour is now set to begin with a one-off Test match on December 12 at St. George’s Park in Gqeberha. Following the Test, the focus will shift to the white-ball portion of the tour, with the ODI matches scheduled to be hosted in Paarl, Cape Town, and Bloemfontein. The final phase of the tour will feature the three newly added T20Is. The opening T20 match is set for Boxing Day in Benoni, with the final two games scheduled for December 29 and 30 in Potchefstroom.
Reflecting on the changes, CSA CEO Pholetsi Moseki expressed enthusiasm for the expanded schedule, noting that the festive period T20 series serves as vital preparation for the upcoming ICC event. Moseki emphasized that India remains one of the world's premier teams, and the opportunity to compete against them across all three formats provides invaluable development for the South African squad.
Earlier this year in April, India visited South Africa for a five-match T20I series, where they suffered a 4-1 series defeat. The two sides also met during the T20 World Cup in Manchester, where India faced a loss and were subsequently eliminated in the group stage. South Africa eventually exited the same tournament in the semifinals after being defeated by England.
