Inter Milan midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan has addressed speculation regarding his future, stating that it is not yet clear if the upcoming campaign will be the final one of his professional career. After extending his contract with the club for an additional year, the veteran player emphasized that there is little utility in creating long-term plans at his current stage.
Reports from La Gazzetta dello Sport indicate that Mkhitaryan received no specific guarantees regarding his role within the squad. Regarding the decision to extend his stay, the midfielder noted that he must prove his value on the field to earn his place. He expressed confidence in his ability to continue performing at a high level for another season, a conclusion reached in agreement with the club. He added that he would reassess his situation once the season concludes.
Looking ahead to the new campaign, Mkhitaryan maintains high expectations for the team. Having come off a successful year that included two trophies, he insists the squad will not hold back. He stated that the team intends to compete at their best across four fronts, including the Champions League and the Supercoppa. According to the midfielder, while the future is unpredictable and success can fluctuate from year to year, the team remains committed to being prepared for every challenge.

“I didn’t receive any guarantee, it wouldn’t even have been right, because I have to show on the pitch whether I deserve a place in the team or not,” he said. “But I feel I can still play at a good level for another year, and so, together with the club, I decided to stay one more season. Then we’ll see.”
“We’ve never held back,” he said. “We’ll try to play at our best on four fronts, I include the Supercoppa as well as the Champions League. You can’t know what the future holds; there are years when you win and years when you lose. The important thing is to be ready for every challenge, and we are. Always.”
