Mechanics employed by Tesla in Sweden are set to resume strike action at multiple workshops across the country beginning August 13th. The industrial action, organized by the IF Metall union, targets facilities located in Malmö, Umeå, Uppsala, Upplands Väsby, Segeltorp, and Huddinge.
This development follows the breakdown of negotiations between the union and the electric vehicle manufacturer’s Swedish subsidiary, TM Sweden AB. According to information reported by the Dagens Arbete newspaper, the union communicated its position to the Swedish Mediation Institute, stating that despite extensive discussions, the parties could not reach a resolution. The union noted that TM Sweden AB has formally indicated it does not intend to sign a collective agreement for its Swedish operations.
The current labor dispute has been ongoing since October 2023. Earlier this spring, the union had temporarily paused the strike at several locations, an action that allowed approximately 40 mechanics to resume their duties before this latest escalation.
