The Algerian Football Federation has confirmed that its contractual relationship with national team head coach Vladimir Petkovic and his coaching staff has officially concluded. The governing body stated that the decision was reached through a mutual agreement between the two parties.

The 62-year-old manager had been at the helm of the team since February 2024. Prior to the start of the World Cup, he had reached an agreement to extend his contract through 2028.

During his tenure, Algeria competed in the 48-team World Cup held in North America. The team successfully advanced to the round of 32 as one of the top eight third-placed finishers, though their campaign ultimately ended with a 2-0 defeat against Switzerland.

Looking ahead, the national team is preparing for the upcoming qualification matches for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations, which are scheduled to begin in September. Algeria has been placed in Group I, where they are set to compete against Zambia, Togo, and Burundi.
