Genoa and Bournemouth Dispute Nature of 10-1 Training Session

Bournemouth reported a dominant performance highlighted by a hat-trick from Justin Kluivert, alongside two goals each from Alex Scott and Enes Unal. Daniel Jebbison, David Brooks, and Malcom Dacosta Gonzalez also contributed to the scoreline. Conversely, Genoa opted not to feature the result on their official club website, maintaining that the format consisted of four 30-minute sessions rather than a traditional game. According to Genoa, the session scores were 1-0, 3-1, 3-0, and 3-0 across the four periods.

The match took place behind closed doors at the Bournemouth training camp following Genoa's double session the previous day at St. George’s Park. Genoa’s only goal was scored by Mikael Ellertsson. New defensive signing Mario Mitaj made his debut during the session but conceded a penalty following a rash tackle. Furthermore, Genoa coach Daniele De Rossi utilized an almost entirely youth-based squad for the final two segments of the training exercise.

Genoa concluded their brief UK tour after having previously defeated Leicester City 1-0 at the King Power Stadium on Saturday, thanks to a goal by Lorenzo Colombo. The team is now set to return to Liguria.

The Grifone completed their miniature tour of the UK with a trip to Bournemouth this afternoon.

Genoa defined it as more of a “conjoined training session at the Bournemouth Performance Centre” than a genuine friendly match.
