The United Arab Emirates Under-19 women's cricket team has secured a place in the 2027 ICC Under-19 Women's T20 World Cup. The team earned their spot by winning the Asia Qualifier in Kuala Lumpur on July 30, 2026, defeating Malaysia by a narrow margin of one run in the final.
Despite being bowled out for a total of 95 runs, the UAE successfully defended their score to claim the sole available qualifying slot from the eight-team tournament. Al Maseera Jahangir played a pivotal role in the victory, contributing 31 runs with the bat and taking 2 for 12 with the ball, which earned her the Player of the Match honors.
The UAE maintained an unbeaten record throughout their five-match campaign. Prior to their final victory, they defeated Hong Kong China, Malaysia, and Qatar during the group stage, followed by a win against Bhutan in the semi-finals. This qualification marks a return to the international stage for the UAE, who participated in the inaugural 2023 competition but missed out on the 2025 edition.
Reflecting on the achievement, UAE captain Mehak Thakur expressed her pride in the team's ability to handle pressure during the final. She noted that the players are excited to represent their country at the upcoming World Cup and hope to maintain the convincing form they displayed throughout the qualifiers.
The 2027 tournament will be the third edition of the event and will feature 16 teams. In related news, Samoa has also secured their place in the 2027 competition after winning the East Asia-Pacific Qualifier in Papua New Guinea. Samoa also finished their tournament undefeated, having overcome Fiji, Indonesia, Vanuatu, and Papua New Guinea, marking their second consecutive appearance at the Under-19 T20 World Cup.
