Offspin-bowling allrounder Saransh Jain has secured his first-ever call-up to the India Test squad for the upcoming two-match series in Sri Lanka. The 33-year-old earned his selection following a standout performance during the recent India A tour of Sri Lanka, where he notably scored an unbeaten 70 and claimed seven wickets in the second four-day match. Throughout his 54-game first-class career, Jain has accumulated 2,223 runs at an average of 31.75 and taken 188 wickets at an average of 27.30.
The squad announcement also confirms the return of Jasprit Bumrah, though his participation, along with that of Sai Sudharsan, remains subject to final fitness clearance from the BCCI's Centre of Excellence. Ravindra Jadeja has been included in the side as well, having successfully recovered from a tennis elbow injury. Conversely, Washington Sundar was ruled out of contention for the first Test due to a hamstring injury sustained during the recent ODI series against England.
The full India squad for the series includes Shubman Gill as captain, with KL Rahul serving as vice-captain. The remaining members are Yashasvi Jaiswal, Rishabh Pant, Sai Sudharsan, Dhruv Jurel, Ravindra Jadeja, Kuldeep Yadav, Manav Suthar, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj, Prasidh Krishna, Gurnoor Brar, Devdutt Padikkal, and Saransh Jain.
