Scans conducted last week confirmed the setback, and the club has stated that they are not currently placing a specific timeframe on his return, though he will be out until at least mid-August.
Hain, who recently earned two ODI caps for England in late 2023, boasts an impressive List A average of 58.18. Despite his strong performance—including a score of 80 in Warwickshire's tournament opener against Northamptonshire—his injury occurred while fielding. The team has struggled in his absence, currently sitting at the bottom of Group A after losing three consecutive matches. Rob Yates has assumed captaincy duties, with Ed Barnard unavailable due to his commitments in The Hundred with Sunrisers Leeds.
The injury also presents a potential complication for Warwickshire’s County Championship campaign. With six matches remaining, the side sits third in Division One, just five points behind leaders Nottinghamshire. Hain has been a pivotal figure for the team this season, serving as their leading run-scorer with 622 runs at an average of 62.20 across 14 innings.
Meanwhile, Nottinghamshire has moved to bolster their own 50-over squad following injuries to Jack Haynes and Ben Slater. They have signed Scotland batter George Munsey for their upcoming matches against Leicestershire and Lancashire. Paul Franks, Notts Outlaws' Head Coach for the tournament, praised Munsey’s consistency in the T20 Blast, noting that his experience and character make him an essential addition to the top order. Munsey is expected to depart temporarily for Scotland’s Cricket World Cup League 2 fixtures against the UAE and Canada, but may return for the knockout stages in August.
