AC Milan concluded their first official pre-season friendly of the summer with a 2-2 draw against Celtic at Celtic Park on Saturday. While the match featured a late comeback led by teenage sensation Francesco Camarda, who scored twice within seven minutes of entering the pitch to erase a two-goal deficit, the primary concern for the Rossoneri was the health of new arrival Mario Gila.
Gila, the 25-year-old centre-back who recently signed from Lazio in a deal worth €25m plus €5m in bonuses, was forced to leave the game in the 67th minute during his debut. According to initial reports from the Corriere dello Sport, the defender experienced discomfort in his right quadriceps and requested to be substituted. He was replaced by 18-year-old Valeri Vladimirov.
Following the full-time whistle, Milan coach Ruben Amorim provided an update on the situation, aiming to calm concerns regarding the player's status. "He felt something, but I don’t think it’s anything serious. I hope and think he will recover soon," the recently-appointed coach stated. Despite the injury, the Spaniard is still expected to join the rest of the squad as they prepare to travel to Australia for the next stage of their pre-season campaign.
