According to BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia, the meeting is scheduled to take place in August, though an exact date has not yet been confirmed. The review will focus on the team's white-ball performances, particularly the recent tours of Ireland and England where the team struggled significantly, recording only a single win in one ODI against England.
India's recent results included a historic first-ever T20I defeat to Ireland in Belfast, followed by losing four out of five T20Is against England, with one match ending in an abandonment. In the three-match ODI series against Harry Brook’s side, India, led by Shubman Gill, suffered a 1-2 series defeat. These results represented a sharp downturn following the team's success in the World Cup under captain Shreyas Iyer. Conversely, India has successfully clinched the ongoing T20I series in Zimbabwe.
Beyond performance analysis, the BCCI will evaluate the contracts of specific support staff members under head coach Gautam Gambhir. Assistant coach Ryan ten Doeschate has requested to be relieved of his duties following the completion of his two-year contract, a request the board is expected to consider. Additionally, the future of fielding coach T Dilip remains uncertain following scrutiny over the team's sub-par fielding and catching standards during the UK tour.
In other developments, the squad for the upcoming two-match Test series against Sri Lanka—scheduled for August 15 to 27 in Galle and Colombo—is set to be finalized on Tuesday. The selection meeting is expected to be held virtually. While the squad is likely to remain largely consistent with the group that played against Afghanistan in June, selectors are weighing the inclusion of Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj. There is also discussion regarding a potential debut for Auqib Nabi, the leading wicket-taker from the most recent Ranji season.
Meanwhile, all-format player Nitish Kumar Reddy is unlikely to be considered for the Sri Lanka Tests. Reddy is currently undergoing rehabilitation at the Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru for a quadriceps injury sustained last month. Although he has resumed bowling at the facility, he is not expected to be match-fit for the five-day format until later, with officials targeting his return for the white-ball series in September.
