The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) has confirmed that the 2027 men's and women's Ashes series will once again be held in parallel. This scheduling follows the successful joint-hosting format of 2023, where both series ended in a tie, though Australia retained the trophies in both instances.
For the men's series, the opening Test is set for Trent Bridge on June 18, with the series concluding at the Kia Oval on August 2. Following the opener, the remaining Test matches will take place at Lord's, Edgbaston, and the Utilita Bowl, which is set to host its first-ever men's Ashes match. This will be the first time Trent Bridge has hosted an Ashes Test since Stuart Broad's iconic 8 for 15 performance in 2015.
Prior to the main series, Australia is expected to participate in a warm-up match at Emirates Old Trafford from June 7 to 10 against the England Lions. This follows discussions between the ECB and Cricket Australia aimed at improving preparation for marquee events, addressing concerns from England's 4-1 series defeat during the previous winter, which was attributed to inadequate preparation.
The women's Ashes will commence on June 24 with a one-off Test at Headingley. The multi-format series will then feature three T20Is at Trent Bridge, the Kia Oval, and Emirates Old Trafford, before concluding with ODIs at the Utilita Bowl, Lord's, and finally Edgbaston on July 20.
The 2027 summer schedule also includes a one-off Test against Bangladesh at Lord's starting May 28, following a two-Test tour of Bangladesh in February. Additionally, the men's international season will begin with five ODIs against Pakistan in May, and conclude with three T20Is and five ODIs against New Zealand in September. The Kia Oval will host the World Test Championship Final, while the England men's Mixed Disability team is also scheduled to host Australia, with specific dates for those fixtures to be announced later.
The format follows the successful joint-hosting of the last home Ashes in 2023, in which both series were tied. Four years ago, the men shared their five-match Test series 2-2, while the women split their points series 8-8, although in both cases Australia retained the trophy.
As per agreements between the ECB and BCCI, English players will honour their full IPL contracts. That, in turn, could affect availability for the one-off Test match with Bangladesh, which has been scheduled at Lord's from May 28. It will be the first time England have hosted Bangladesh for a Test since 2010, and will follow on from England's two-Test tour of the country which is due to take place in February.
