Explosions have been reported across several regions of Iran following a new wave of military strikes launched by the United States. According to the US Central Command (CENTCOM), the operation was authorized by the commander-in-chief and is intended to further degrade Iranian military capabilities that have been utilized to target commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz.
Reports from Iranian media outlets provided details on the locations affected by the strikes. The state broadcaster IRIB reported an explosion in Bandar Abbas, the capital of Hormozgan province. Further reports from the semi-official Fars News Agency indicated that blasts were heard over Qeshm Island and nearby waters, while an additional explosion occurred in Sirik, also located in Hormozgan. In the southern Fars province, the official IRNA news agency reported an explosion in the city of Shiraz.
Activity was also noted in the southeastern region, where 14 explosions were reportedly heard over the cities of Chabahar and Konarak in Sistan and Baluchestan province during the preceding hours. Meanwhile, the semi-official Mehr News Agency reported that air defense systems were heard operating in the vicinity of the Bushehr Nuclear Power Plant in southern Iran.
Regarding the central city of Isfahan, the Mehr News Agency initially reported two explosions. However, Iranian media later cited the deputy governor for security and law enforcement in Isfahan province, who denied that any hostile attack or explosion had taken place in that region. As of now, there have been no official reports of casualties or damage resulting from the strikes across the country.
