China Evacuates 1.7 Million People as Typhoon Bavi Hits

As of Saturday, Chinese authorities have successfully evacuated more than 1.7 million residents from areas impacted by the arrival of Typhoon Bavi. The storm made landfall in the eastern province of Zhejiang, marking the 1st major typhoon to strike the country in just over a week.

The severe weather conditions have caused significant disruptions to local transportation infrastructure. Numerous flights have been cancelled across the region, and officials have confirmed that certain high-speed railway services have been halted to ensure public safety.
