The White House has formally requested that Kimberly Guilfoyle step down from her role as the United States ambassador to Greece. This move follows a series of reports detailing alleged misconduct, including claims that she accepted lavish gifts and solicited money in exchange for providing access to administration officials during the period leading up to her confirmation.
During a news conference on Tuesday, White House spokesperson Katie Zacharia confirmed the administration's decision. When questioned regarding the timeline for the ambassador's departure and potential successors, Zacharia stated, "We have asked Ambassador Guilfoyle to resign. She has been a wonderful asset to the team, and we wish her well."
The administration's request for resignation comes one day after US President Donald Trump publicly indicated that his team was considering removing Guilfoyle from the diplomatic post. According to a source familiar with the matter, the State Department’s Office of Inspector General is currently conducting an investigation into the allegations surrounding the ambassador.
