Dennis Haskins, the actor widely recognized for his role as Bayside High principal Mr. Belding, has passed away at the age of 75. His death was confirmed late Monday, Sept. 28, by his agent, Jay Schachter, who shared the news with TMZ and The Hollywood Reporter. A specific cause of death has not been disclosed.
Reflecting on the loss, Schachter stated, "It’s a tragic loss. Everyone loved Mr. Belding and those of us who got to know Dennis, loved him even more. He was a great person, and he loved, I mean absolutely loved his fans."
Haskins became a staple of television comedy through his portrayal of the high school principal, a character frequently exasperated by the antics of student Zack Morris, played by Mark-Paul Gosselaar, and his friend group. The actor was famously associated with his character's iconic line, often delivered when encountering trouble in the hallways: "Hey, hey, hey, what is going on here?"
Beyond his television work, Haskins appeared in various film projects, including a role as a snake oil salesman in the movie "A Million Ways to Die in the West."
Later in his life, Haskins pursued higher education, graduating in 2015 at the age of 65 from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga with a Bachelor of Arts in theater. Following his graduation, he expressed his gratitude on social media, writing on X, "So long for now, Chattanooga! I can't thank you enough for this past weekend! It was a blessing!"
