Three Palestinians have been killed in separate Israeli military attacks across Gaza City and Khan Younis, according to local sources, despite an ongoing ceasefire that ostensibly took effect last October. In one incident on Thursday, a Palestinian was killed when an Israeli drone struck his bicycle near the Industrial Junction in Gaza City. In southern Gaza, Israeli forces targeted a tent sheltering displaced people near Khan Younis, killing one Palestinian and leaving several others injured. Earlier on Thursday, a young Palestinian man was struck by an Israeli drone at a home in the Al-Shati refugee camp west of Gaza City. A source at the nearby al-Shifa Hospital reported that the victim later succumbed to his injuries.
An Anadolu correspondent reported that Israeli forces also shelled multiple areas east of Gaza City and Khan Younis throughout the day. Meanwhile, Gaza’s civil defence authority stated that its teams have successfully recovered the remains of 233 Palestinians from beneath the rubble of 20 homes destroyed in previous Israeli attacks. Mohammed Abu Dan, who leads the civil defence recovery project, noted that these remains were part of a group of 400 people previously listed as missing. The recovered victims included 73 children and 106 women. This operation, currently in its second phase, began in mid-July and continues to face chronic shortages of equipment and essential resources.
Israel’s ongoing actions in the region have caused the displacement of hundreds of thousands of residents, many of whom are currently residing in temporary shelters and tents. According to Gaza’s Health Ministry, more than 1,300 Palestinians have been killed and over 4,000 injured since the US-brokered ceasefire began last October. Since the conflict escalated in October 2023, the total death toll has surpassed 73,400, with more than 174,400 individuals injured, largely due to strikes targeting civilian infrastructure.
