A series of overnight aerial strikes across the Russia-Ukraine border has resulted in at least 12 deaths, marking a significant escalation in long-range missile and drone warfare as frontline combat activity remains reduced. In Ukraine, two individuals were killed at a major steel plant in Kryvyi Rih.
Russian officials stated that the facility was targeted due to its role in manufacturing Flamingo missiles for the Ukrainian military. Additional strikes in the Zaporizhzhia region claimed two more lives, while one person was killed in the Sumy region.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy addressed the ongoing situation, noting that Russia has launched more than 1,500 drones into Ukraine over the past week. Meanwhile, Ukraine conducted one of its largest aerial offensives since the 2022 invasion began, launching hundreds of drones into Russian territory on Sunday morning. Russian authorities reported that five people were killed in the southern Rostov region, which was targeted by approximately 150 drones.
Furthermore, two people were killed across the regions of Belgorod and Moscow, where the Ukrainian military confirmed it was targeting energy infrastructure and military manufacturing facilities. In the town of Podolsk, a warehouse owned by the online retailer Wildberries was set ablaze by a drone strike. Russia's military claimed to have intercepted 822 Ukrainian drones, asserting that 600 of those were aimed at the capital.
