The status of India's upcoming cricket tour of Bangladesh has become increasingly unclear, with the six-match white-ball series facing potential setbacks. Although the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) had issued a tender notification for media rights on July 1, the process appears to have been stalled just 13 days later.
A source within the BCB in Dhaka clarified that the delay in issuing Expression of Interest (EoI) documents is due to a shift in strategic planning rather than issues specifically tied to the India series. According to the source, the board is currently assessing the market before proceeding with bid invitations. However, the requirement to include specific match dates in the EoI documents remains a significant hurdle, as the previously announced schedule—which featured three T20Is and three ODIs slated for August 1 to 13—may no longer be finalized.
The series has faced consistent scrutiny due to diplomatic tensions between the two nations, which were particularly pronounced last year. Recent optimism regarding the tour had grown following the appointment of Dinesh Trivedi as India's ambassador to Bangladesh last month. The selection of a career politician for the role was viewed as a positive sign for bilateral relations, yet logistical and scheduling roadblocks appear to be hindering the Indian team's travel plans.
While it remains too early to definitively conclude the fate of the tour, the current pause in the administrative process has cast a shadow over the event, leaving the status of the August fixtures in doubt.
One possible reason for the BCB's decision to pause the process and withhold the release of the EoI document could be that the dates have not yet been finalised. As a matter of fact, the EoI has to mention the match dates.
