A series of overnight drone strikes launched by Ukraine across multiple Russian regions has resulted in the deaths of eight people and left more than 60 others wounded, according to Russian officials. The aerial campaign, which continues as the invasion of Ukraine enters its fifth year, targeted various military and energy-related infrastructure sites.
Two major warehouses belonging to the retailer Wildberries were hit during the operation. One facility located in Kotovsk in the Tambov region, roughly 360 kilometers from the Ukrainian border, suffered significant damage. Tambov regional governor Yevgeny Pervyshov confirmed that seven night-shift workers were killed at this location, with 25 others sustaining injuries. Wildberries founder Tatyana Kim later reported that the fire at the Kotovsk site had been successfully extinguished.
A second Wildberries warehouse in Elektrostal, approximately 50 kilometers east of Moscow, was also struck, with footage showing a large blaze and heavy smoke. Moscow Region Governor Andrei Vorobyov stated that 37 people were wounded across the Moscow region, noting that one individual later died in the hospital. Additionally, drone debris struck a kindergarten in Elektrostal, causing a fire that officials have since put out.
Also in the Moscow region, a drone strike on an oil depot in the city of Noginsk triggered a fire, forcing the evacuation of a nearby residential building and a maternity hospital. In the city of Vladimir, located over 110 kilometers east of Moscow, a residential building was hit, though no casualties were reported.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy confirmed the strikes, stating on Telegram that Ukrainian long-range drones targeted two significant logistical facilities in the Tambov and Moscow regions. He alleged these sites were used to supply components for drone production and navigation equipment. Zelenskyy also noted that Ukrainian special operations conducted additional strikes against targets in occupied territory and the Sea of Azov.
The Russian Defense Ministry reported that its air defense systems intercepted a total of 379 Ukrainian drones overnight. These interceptions occurred across 19 Russian regions, as well as over the Sea of Azov, the Black Sea, and the illegally annexed territory of Crimea.
