Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) President Tufan Erhurman has committed to maintaining close consultation and cooperation with Türkiye in the pursuit of a just and lasting settlement for the island. Speaking on Friday at the 13th Heads of State Summit of the Organization of Turkic States in Ankara, Erhurman stated that these efforts are intended to bolster peace, stability, and cooperation both within Cyprus and across the broader region.

Erhurman emphasized that the dual objectives of integrating Turkish Cypriots into the international community and achieving a formal settlement are mutually reinforcing. He expressed a desire for the Eastern Mediterranean to evolve into a region characterized by shared prosperity, inclusive cooperation, and mutual respect, moving away from past policies of exclusion and tension.

During the summit, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan also reiterated his country's steadfast support for Turkish Cypriots. Erdogan affirmed that Türkiye remains dedicated to defending the rights and interests of Turkish Cypriots while working to end their unjust isolation. Furthermore, he advocated for the expansion of opportunities linked to the TRNC’s observer status within the Organization of Turkic States and called for the strengthening of ties between the TRNC and other member states.
