Turkish club Trabzonspor has officially confirmed that it has entered into transfer negotiations to sign Egyptian football star Mohamed Salah. The club announced that the 34-year-old forward is expected to arrive at Istanbul Ataturk Airport at 12:00 on Wednesday, August 5, before traveling to Trabzon later that evening.
The move follows the conclusion of Salah's illustrious nine-year tenure at Liverpool, during which he secured both the Champions League title and two Premier League trophies. Throughout his time at Anfield, Salah made 442 appearances across all competitions and netted 257 goals, establishing himself as the club's third-highest goalscorer in history. His Premier League record includes 193 goals, 191 of which were scored for Liverpool, placing him fourth on the all-time list behind Alan Shearer, Harry Kane, and Wayne Rooney.
Last season proved challenging for the forward, who scored only seven league goals as part of a struggling Liverpool squad. Beyond his club career, Salah has earned 119 international caps for Egypt, scoring 66 goals. He was most recently involved in the World Cup, helping his national team reach the last 16 for the first time since 1934, though they were eventually eliminated following a loss to Argentina. In addition to the interest from Trabzonspor, Salah had previously been linked with Super Lig rivals Besiktas.
Trabzonspor, which finished third in the Turkish top flight last season, secured a spot in the Europa League play-off round by finishing nine points ahead of Besiktas.
