A violent explosion in central Moscow on Saturday evening left three people dead and at least 21 others injured, according to local authorities. The incident occurred shortly before 8 p.m. near the Balzi Rossi Italian restaurant, a venue situated within one of the city's historic Stalin-era skyscrapers at Kudrinskaya Square.
Russia’s anti-terrorism committee stated that the blast was caused by a homemade bomb carried by an unidentified woman. Reports from the state RIA news agency indicate that the woman attempted to enter the establishment but was intercepted by a security guard. The ensuing detonation resulted in the deaths of the woman, the security guard, and a restaurant customer. The venue, which had been closed to the public for a private event that evening, saw injuries of varying severity among those affected.
While law enforcement has secured the site and released footage showing heavily armed officers, officials have not yet released the identities of the victims or the perpetrators. The Kommersant daily newspaper, citing its own sources, suggested that the device may have been intended to target guests on the restaurant's outdoor summer terrace. The publication further speculated that the bomb might have been triggered remotely, raising the possibility that the woman carrying the device was unaware of its contents.
