Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs, the 56-year-old music mogul, has been transferred from the FCI Fort Dix facility in New Jersey to FCI Allenwood Low, a low-security prison located south of Williamsport and approximately 155 miles (250km) west of New York City. A person familiar with the matter confirmed the transfer to the Associated Press, while a spokesperson for the US Bureau of Prisons (BOP) later verified the move to Agence France-Presse.
Regarding the relocation, Combs’s spokesperson, Juda Engelmayer, stated that decisions concerning inmate placement are made by the BOP and that they are not in a position to speak to the circumstances surrounding the transfer. “Sean remains focused on moving forward, and we hope that his time at the new facility will be productive and without unnecessary disruption,” Engelmayer added.
The transfer follows a period of intense scrutiny at the New Jersey lockup. In September, NBC News reported that Combs was allegedly maintaining a millionaire lifestyle at FCI Fort Dix, which included smuggling in Hennessy cognac and using a contraband cellphone to view social media and an ex-girlfriend’s nude selfies. The report also claimed he had fellow inmates cook, clean, make his bed, and provide him with massages. Following these allegations, Combs was placed in the prison’s special housing unit, a heavily secured area for inmates with disciplinary or security concerns. He was also docked 41 days of good-conduct credit, which pushed his release date to 2 March 2028.
Additionally, TMZ reported on Wednesday that Combs had been injured in a fight with another inmate and required treatment outside the prison. The BOP issued a rare rebuttal to this claim, telling the Associated Press: “The story you are referring to is false and did not happen.” Meanwhile, Combs continues to challenge his conviction and sentence. The second US circuit court of appeals heard arguments in April regarding his effort to overturn the conviction, which his lawyers argued was too harsh. The court has yet to issue a ruling.
