At least five people have been killed and more than a dozen have been injured following a series of Russian attacks across Ukraine over the last 24 hours. Moscow launched 200 drones overnight, of which 187 were intercepted by Ukrainian armed forces.
In Kyiv, Mayor Vitali Klitschko reported on Tuesday afternoon that at least 12 people had been injured in strikes on the capital since the morning, with one individual later dying in the hospital. Local police stated that the strikes caused damage to warehouses, a business center, and a fast-food restaurant, which Ukrainian media identified as a McDonald's.
In the southern city of Kherson, a 74-year-old woman was killed by a Russian drone strike, according to Oleksandr Prokudin, the head of the Kherson Region Military Administration. Additionally, two men aged 38 and 60 were wounded in a separate drone attack on the region on Tuesday morning. In Zaporizhzhia Oblast, acting head of the Military Administration Mykhailo Semkin reported early Tuesday that one man was killed and a woman was injured in an attack that reportedly targeted the local power grid. Further east in the Donetsk Oblast, authorities confirmed that two more people were killed and one was injured in strikes on the city of Sloviansk.
While facing these attacks, the Ukrainian military reported its own strikes on Russian territory, specifically targeting the Syzran oil refinery and the Atlant Aero facility in Taganrog, a site known for producing unmanned aerial vehicles and components. The Ukrainian General Staff stated that the operation, conducted by Special Operations Forces including deep strike units, hit the Syzran refinery's primary crude oil distillation unit and tank farm.
Meanwhile, the commander of Ukraine's 3rd Army Corps, Andrii Biletskyi, announced that his unit had launched an offensive operation near the eastern city of Lyman. Although Lyman has remained largely unoccupied by Russian forces since the full-scale invasion began in February 2022, Moscow has spent months attempting to encircle the city. Military analysts note that capturing Lyman could assist Russia in advancing toward the Ukrainian strongholds of Kramatorsk and Sloviansk. Biletskyi claimed in a video on Telegram that his forces had successfully cleared approximately 75 square kilometers of territory during the operation.
