The Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) has initiated the expansion of its premier T20 tournament by inviting bids for a ninth team. This move will increase the size of the T20 Mumbai League, with the new franchise intended to represent the Navi Mumbai region. This expansion is designed to broaden the league’s reach and offer a significant platform for cricket talent across Mumbai and its surrounding territories.
This development follows a successful fourth edition of the tournament, which concluded in June. In a statement, the MCA highlighted the tournament’s growth, noting that the most recent season generated strong fan interest and featured highly competitive cricket, further cementing its status as one of India's leading domestic franchise-based T20 competitions.
Parties interested in securing the rights to operate this new franchise can collect the necessary bid documents from the MCA office located at the Cricket Centre, Wankhede Stadium, Churchgate, Mumbai. The documents will be available for collection between August 10 and August 25, 2026, during the hours of 11 am and 6 pm.
