Manchester United have officially confirmed that goalkeeper Altay Bayindir has joined La Liga side Celta Vigo on loan for the duration of the 2026/27 season, a move that remains subject to registration. The 28-year-old goalkeeper, who joined United from Fenerbahce in 2023, is set to link up with the Spanish club, which finished sixth in La Liga last season under head coach Claudio Giraldez and is preparing for upcoming UEFA Europa League competition.
Reports indicate that Celta Vigo will cover the entirety of Bayindir’s wages during the loan period. Additionally, the agreement includes an option for the Spanish side to make the transfer permanent, and Manchester United have secured a sell-on clause as part of the deal. The club stated, “Everyone at United wishes Altay the best of luck for the campaign ahead.”
Since his debut against Newport County in 2024, the Turkish international has made 17 appearances for Manchester United, including six games during the previous season. His departure is part of a broader overhaul of the club's goalkeeping department this summer. Fellow goalkeeper Andre Onana has also left Old Trafford, sealing a return to Trabzonspor following his 2025/26 stint there. Although it was believed Onana was interested in competing for his place at United, his opportunities were limited due to Senne Lammens, who has established himself as the undisputed number one following his arrival from Royal Antwerp last summer.
