A man in his 60s, formerly of Stockport in Greater Manchester, has pleaded guilty to 60 criminal offences involving the systematic drugging and sexual assault of his wife over a period of 20 years. Due to the need to protect the anonymity of his victim, the defendant cannot be named.
At Manchester’s Minshull Street crown court on Monday, the man admitted to the final 45 charges against him, having already pleaded guilty to 15 other counts in June. The total of 60 admitted offences includes 21 counts of rape and the sharing of intimate images of his wife.
During the court proceedings, the defendant’s estranged wife was present, sitting in the front row alongside family members. She was observed sobbing as the man entered his guilty pleas.
