Leeds United have secured the permanent transfer of goalkeeper Trafford from Manchester City, finalizing the move for a club-record fee. The English international, who was part of Thomas Tuchel's squad for this year's World Cup, becomes the third new addition to manager Daniel Farke's squad this summer, following the arrivals of Harry Wilson and Tarik Muharemovic.
Trafford had returned to City in July of last year but found regular playing time difficult to secure as Gianluigi Donnarumma established himself as Pep Guardiola’s first-choice goalkeeper. During the previous season, Trafford made 17 appearances for Manchester City across all competitions.
Expressing his excitement about the move, Trafford stated, "I know my own abilities. I go out and try as hard as I can and have as much fun as I can. I am really excited and just really happy that it is finally done. I can get onto preparing for the new season and can focus on getting in with everyone next week."
Leeds United, who finished the last Premier League season in 14th place, are now preparing for their opening match of the upcoming campaign against Nottingham Forest on August 22.
