The upcoming fifth season of the ILT20 is set to feature several high-profile debuts, with South African power-hitters David Miller and Heinrich Klaasen signing with the Gulf Giants. New Zealand's Finn Allen is also poised for his first appearance in the tournament, joining the Abu Dhabi Knight Riders. Meanwhile, Australian allrounder Marcus Stoinis makes his return to the competition after a three-year absence, signing on with the Dubai Capitals.
Team rosters are taking shape ahead of the auction scheduled for October 1 in Dubai. The Desert Vipers have secured Mujeeb Ur Rahman, who moves from the Capitals, while retaining Shimron Hetmyer, Andries Gous, and Dan Lawrence. In a reciprocal move, Noor Ahmad has joined the Dubai Capitals, who have also retained Rovman Powell and Mustafizur Rahman alongside their new recruit Stoinis. MI Emirates has opted to retain Nicholas Pooran, Rashid Khan, and Romario Shepherd, while adding Sherfane Rutherford to their ranks.
The Abu Dhabi Knight Riders will feature Finn Allen alongside retained stars Sunil Narine and Jason Holder, with Matthew Tromp of the USA also joining the squad. The Gulf Giants have finalized their quota of four overseas players by retaining Azmatullah Omarzai and Blessing Muzarabani. Sharjah Warriorz, the only team to retain just one player in Sikandar Raza, have bolstered their side with the signings of Adam Milne, James Vince, and Waqar Salamkheil. The Warriorz have also appointed Adrian Birrell as head coach; Birrell previously led Sunrisers Eastern Cape to three SA20 titles.
Following the October 1 auction, where teams will fill their squads to a minimum of 18 and a maximum of 23 players, each franchise will be permitted one additional wildcard signing. The tournament is scheduled to run from November 22 to December 20, featuring a total of 34 matches.
