Manchester City forward Jeremy Doku has committed his long-term future to the club by signing a five-year contract extension. The deal ensures the 24-year-old will remain at the Etihad Stadium until at least 2031, providing a significant boost to the team ahead of the upcoming Premier League campaign, which is set to begin on August 21.
Since arriving from French side Rennes in 2023, Doku has established himself as a dynamic presence in the Premier League. Across 131 appearances for the club, he has recorded 22 goals and 34 assists, playing a key role in City's success in the Premier League, the FA Cup, the League Cup, and the Club World Cup. The Belgium international, who has earned 48 caps and featured for his country at the recent World Cup, expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to extend his stay.
Reflecting on his development, Doku stated that he has grown both as a player and an individual during his time in Manchester. He noted that he feels settled and continues to improve daily due to the support of the club's staff. A major factor in his decision to renew his contract is the appointment of new manager Enzo Maresca, who has taken over from Pep Guardiola.
"With Enzo here now I am really excited about the new season," Doku said. "His style of football is the kind we love, so that's exciting for the players."
City director of football Hugo Viana praised the winger's impact and progression since his 2023 arrival. Viana highlighted that Doku’s improvement is clear and noted that his specific dynamic qualities are exactly what the club seeks in a winger, adding that he brings a special dimension to the current squad.
