A total of 47 Palestinian families residing in the northern occupied West Bank have been ordered by illegal Israeli settlers to vacate their homes by Sunday evening. This ultimatum follows a punishing 27-day military blockade that has severely restricted the community, according to confirmation from a Palestinian rights organization.
Hassan Mleihat, the head of the rights group Al-Baydar, stated that the families are facing an uncertain future due to systematic road closures that have effectively isolated the Ras al-Ahmar community, located south-east of Tubas. Mleihat issued an urgent appeal to international bodies, humanitarian organizations, and human rights groups to intervene, warning that the eviction threat has heightened fears among residents regarding their ability to maintain their livelihoods and stay on ancestral land.
The situation has been compounded by a physical encirclement of the area. In September, the Israeli military severed the final route connecting Ras al-Ahmar to neighboring towns, having already blocked all surrounding agricultural dirt roads. Local resident Thaer Bisharat reported that movement restrictions have steadily increased over the last three years, reaching a critical point when Israeli forces dug a deep trench across the community's last remaining vehicular access point.
Bisharat described the current conditions as a total entrapment, with the population hemmed in by trenches, concrete barriers, and designated military firing zones. This development occurs amid a broader surge of violence across the occupied territory. According to official data from the Palestinian Colonisation and Wall Resistance Commission, illegal Israeli settlers have carried out more than 14,742 attacks throughout the occupied West Bank and East Jerusalem since October 2023, resulting in the deaths of 66 Palestinians.
