Reflecting on their recent encounter, Garry noted during a media scrum that he felt Makhachev appeared reluctant to participate in the ceremonial face-off. He described sensing a degree of nervous energy from the champion, though he acknowledged the performative nature of such events. According to Garry, these interactions are primarily for social media and promotional obligations rather than representing a genuine moment of confrontation. He emphasized that the true intensity of their meeting will occur on Friday, once the fighters have successfully made weight and completed their preparations, marking their final look at one another before stepping into the octagon.
The matchup has also drawn analysis from within the sport, including comments from Tom Aspinall. In a recent video posted to his YouTube channel, Aspinall projected that Makhachev would secure a victory via decision. While Aspinall admitted that an upset by Garry is entirely possible, he expressed skepticism regarding anyone in the division currently being capable of defeating Makhachev, noting that he believes the champion has a stronger path to controlling the fight than Garry has to landing a decisive strike.
