Trip.com has unveiled its highly anticipated annual ranking of the top 50 ski resorts across Europe for 2026. This comprehensive list evaluates destinations based on a blend of customer reviews, consistent quality, year-round sales data, and unique regional themes.
Leading the rankings is Zermatt Ski Resort, situated in the German-speaking Canton of Valais, Switzerland. Often called a “skier’s paradise,” the resort features 360 kilometres of trails that extend across the Italian border. The area is highly regarded for its suitability for both families and expert skiers.
Visitors can access the Klein Matterhorn peak at an altitude of 3,883 metres, and thanks to its high elevation, the resort offers year-round skiing, even during the summer months.
In France, the resort of Les Menuires stands out for its high elevation, with 85% of its ski area located above 1,800 metres. Approximately 52% of the terrain is supported by snow cannons. Alongside its neighbor, Saint-Martin-de-Belleville, the resort provides access to 81 slopes served by 30 lifts. For adrenaline seekers, the area offers challenging black slopes, steep inclines, and off-piste opportunities.
Nearby, the Cosmojet Luge provides a five-kilometre toboggan run starting at the Glacier de Péclet, offering a 45-minute descent with a 700-metre vertical drop. Beyond traditional skiing, visitors can enjoy snowmobiling, mountain karting, and aerial activities like paragliding or paramotoring, or try ice climbing on the frozen waterfalls of Val Thorens.
Courchevel also earns its place among the top destinations, offering 150 kilometres of marked slopes catering to all skill levels. It provides direct access to the 3 Vallées, the world’s largest ski area with a total of 600 kilometres of runs. A notable feature of Courchevel is its luxury lift cars, which were designed by the fashion house Chanel.
Another Swiss highlight is the resort near Piz Nair, which reaches an altitude of 3,057 metres. The ski area spans vast regions including Corviglia, Marguns, Salastrains, Signal, and Munt da San Murezzan. With 88 pistes and 56 lifts, the resort caters to diverse preferences, ranging from a nine-kilometre run starting at 3,303 metres for advanced skiers to three-kilometre intermediate pistes for those seeking a more relaxed pace.
Away from the slopes, the area is well-known for its diverse restaurant scene, where diners can enjoy meals framed by panoramic mountain views.
There are lots of activities to do beyond skiing, including discovering the snowy landscape on a snowmobile or mountain kart designed for driving on snow. Visitors can also experience the Alps from above by taking flight on a paramotor or paraglider.
Adventurers can also tackle the picturesque ice waterfalls of Val Thorens by ice climbing, where instructions teach visitors how to use ice axes and crampons to scale the ice wall and get a panoramic view of the resort.
