Cristian Romero is reportedly eager to secure a return to Serie A this summer, with reports indicating that the 28-year-old is in contact with Inter regarding a potential move. While the player is keen on the transfer, Tottenham Hotspur’s €50m asking price has emerged as a significant obstacle for the Nerazzurri.

The Argentine defender, who previously made his mark in Italy at Genoa, Juventus, and Atalanta before his €53.8m move to Tottenham in 2021, has decided that his time at White Hart Lane has come to an end. This sentiment is reportedly fueled by the club's recent struggles to maintain their standing in the Premier League. Although he is under contract with the London side until June 2029, both the club and the player appear prepared to part ways during the upcoming transfer window.

Romero, who notably limped off the pitch during the 2026 World Cup Final, remains a primary target for Inter. However, reaching an agreement remains difficult. Beyond the substantial transfer fee demanded by Spurs, the player's personal wage requirements also present a major financial hurdle for the Italian club to overcome.
